![]() And I found this here video on the history of the Trojan war, ancient Greek culture, and how Total War Troy deals with those subjects fascinating. Their recent video on Ghosts of Tsushima and the real life history of Tsushima and samurai is super interesting. They covered a lot of Assassin's Creed games of course. Some videos are in a podcast format, others are shorter and more edited. They usually bring on a guest expert on whatever time period a game is about, and then talk about the topic while footage plays in the background. History Respawned: A bunch of historians talking about games in historical settings, and the real history behind them. Here's some recommendations of mine who I feel are doing interesting, high quality video content related to games, that deserves a couple more views: And which niche, type of video or game genre you feel is underrepresented and should get some attention from Youtube game critics. So yeah, looking to hear about some of your favourite, small game related Youtubers and why you feel they deserve a bigger audience. I'd love to see someone get interviews with some random 3D artist on Call of Duty, some effects artist, or the voice actor who just does random NPC voices. But it's usually project leads being interviewed. I know there's a bunch of those out there already. I also really love channels covering development history and behind-the-scenes trivia about how games were made. If only because those were my favourite games growing up, and I hardly see anyone talking about them in depth. ![]() Is there any niche or genre that you feel is underrepresented or not talked about in the Youtube space? I personally would love it if there were someone doing reviews/critiques out there of the old, obscure Cryo adventure games and Myst style first person puzzlers. Who are some Youtube reviewers/critics doing videogame analysis and critical discussions, or videogame related documentary style content, that you feel deserve a bigger audience because their work is just so good? Why, what makes their content interesting or unique?Īnd on a somewhat related note. If anyone has a mundane meaning for "from stone" that makes sense in the context, I would love to hear it.Previous version of this post was deleted because it didn't spark discussion and was mostly just me asking for recommendations I guess. Could the whole prophecy really mean "when the sun sets and the sky gets dark, Azor Ahai will wake up amidst preserved meat and make a lot of noise "? I find this interesting, as I like the idea of the mundane fulfilment of the grand sounding prophecy. Is it possible that these two lines were put in as a hint to how the prophecy would be fulfilled? As in, rather than literally waking dragons from stone, the prophecy is really just saying making a lot of noise. After this we never hear this phrase used again. The second time it is used actually occurs very shortly before Melisandre first tells us the version of the Azor Ahai prophecy that contains the "wake dragons from stone" part. ![]() ![]() One time it is said by Osha, and the other it is thought by Jaime, so it is clearly a common phrase and is presumably analogous to "we made enough noise to wake the dead". Both times it is used as part of the larger phrase "we made enough noise to wake a dragon". Once in the last Bran chapter of aCoK, and once in the aSoS chapter where Jaime and Brienne are captured by the Bloody Mummers. The second usage of the phrase "wake a dragon" is used twice in the books. It is hard to tell if this phrase is used by anyone other than Viserys (and later Daenerys), or at least Targaryens in general. It is his way of describing how he is when angry, and is often used as a threat towards Daenerys. The first, "wake the dragon", is widely recognised as a phrase used by Viserys. There has been much speculation as to exactly what "dragons" and "stone" could be referring to, but whilst re-reading part of aSoS, it occured to me that "wake the/a dragon" has meaning in its own right within the ASOIAF world.Īs far as I can tell there are two separate meanings to this phrase. ![]() As we are all aware, "wake dragons from stone" is part of the Azor Ahai prophecy. ![]()
